Vinyasa is a Sanskrit word for “connection.” Vinyasa yoga connects the movements of the body with the inhale and exhale of each breath. There are simple vinyasas, such as Cat-Cow, which simply involve two separate movements that coordinate with the inhale and exhale of the breath. There are also more complicated vinyasas which involve a dozen different movements which are also coordinated with the inhale and exhale of each breath. The most famous of this type of vinyasa is known as the Sun Salutation.
